Thank you
to all who attended - buyers, underbidders and "come for a look"
people! 2009 Sale When we started our on-property sale in 1999, we chose the Tuesday before the first Friday in February, and have continued to hold our sale on the at day which is sometimes late January (like 29 January this year) and sometimes early February (like 3rd February next year!). The stock agents have been working on dates for next selling season and we have asked that we remain on that Tuesday before the first Friday, in spite of some other sales changing selling dates and order. So, our next bull sale is on Tuesday 3rd February 2009 and we look forward to welcoming potential buyers, underbidders and "come for a look" people! Sale format and selling method We catalogue our sale bulls in age order, oldest to youngest and are sold in our unique 'buyer friendly' way. At th sale, an Elders auctioneer goes through the catalogue one by one, offering each bull at the price listed in the catalogue. If no-one pops a hand up, the auctioneer moves on to the next bull; if one person wants to buy, then the bull is theirs at the listed price; if two or more are interested, then there's a mini-auction on the spot, using the listed price to start bidding. PLEASE NOTE: It is important to note that we catalogue every bull we are prepared to sell as a breeder; we cull for poor structure and conformation, and bad temperament; we also cull for unsatisfactory EBV's. We retain bulls for our own use and offer the remainder to ensure lots of choice for buyers. Because of this policy, and because our sale date is early in the Angus selling season, we never expect to have 100% clearance of bulls on the day. We do however welcome people to come along on on sale day just for a look. |
